I had seen West Coast Swing, and I wanted to learn it. I had just started dating a dancer, and she suggested that Ken could get me up to speed quickly. I was a bit overwhelmed when I first started private classes. I race cars, and I told Ken it might be easier for me to teach him racing than it would be for him to teach me such a complicated dance. But after a short time, the concepts that had seemed so difficult in the beginning became second nature, and now I look forward to the new moves that lie ahead.
Ken has allowed me to progress at my own pace, taking as much time as I need to absorb material before moving on. If I have trouble with a complicated move, he breaks it down and isolates the exact spot where the problem occurs. He also likes to throw in a flashy eye-catching move from time to time, just to inspire me further. I really enjoy going out dancing with my partner, and I owe it all to Ken.

Ken has helped me focus on the basic principles in West Coast Swing. Some of the problems I had before were easily corrected when I paid attention to the basics. He diagnosed some problems that I was having with turns, and now my balance has improved when turning.
I already knew a little bit of West Coast Swing before I started taking private lessons with Ken, but early on I often got confused when my partners led me into unfamiliar moves. Proper frame and better use of tension and leverage now allow me to stay more connected with my partner. My confidence has improved, and I can find my way through some exotic moves, even when the leads are less than perfect.

We first saw Ken dancing at a couple outdoor street fairs. We noticed how well he and his partners moved together, even when he danced with people he didnt know.
Ken tailors our private lessons to meet our individual needs. He is very patient and spends plenty of time reviewing moves from previous lessons, which is good for us because we don't have much time to practice between sessions. He pays a lot of attention to the details, helping us avoid bad habits on the dance floor.

I had been involved in another dance form when people started suggesting that I might like West Coast Swing. I enjoyed watching the moves, so I thought Id give it a try. After trying different dance studios, I became discouraged. The classes seemed rigid, and I wasnt having any fun. And dancing should be FUN!
When I heard that Ken was teaching lessons, I signed up right away. His joyful energy is infectious. Hes very clear in his instruction and gently points out where you can make improvements. Ken has the dual gift of knowing what hes doing and loving what hes doing. The things I couldnt get in all those other lessons I got in two lessons from Ken.
