Instructor Biography
For many years I only danced freestyle, admiring from a distance those people who knew how to partner dance. Soon after my wife Vera and I moved to San Diego from Chicago, she suggested that we take some dance classes together. We learned a few Latin and ballroom dances, and later we found Cajun and Zydeco dancing. But when we discovered West Coast Swing, I was hooked, and it's still my personal favorite.
With West Coast Swing, I get to dance to a lot of my favorite music. It's a great dance for blues, rock, country, and those R&B tunes I love so much from the 60's and 70's.

We began in the early 90's and I never looked back. I found dancing to be a wonderful form of exercise, a chance to express my creativity, and a great way to meet other people. I was enthusiastic about it from the start, learning both the leaders' and followers' parts, and I would often go home and teach Vera her part after a class that she missed.

Over the next few years, I often found myself teaching quite a few people a bit of West Coast Swing and coaching beginners, just because I enjoyed the dance so much. With lots of encouragement from friends and dance partners, I started teaching private classes in West Coast Swing in 2001, and I started teaching group classes in 2002. It is a privilege to teach to others something that brings such joy, and I look forward to the opportunity to share that with you.
